As you know, I am a complete carbivore. However occasionally, I try to cut down (or out) on carbs for weight loss and health reasons. This usually sucks as I do really enjoy many carb heavy meals such as risotto or pizza. Luckily I discovered Meatza- which looks gross but is actually really tasty and just as flexible as normal pizza when it comes to toppings.
Start off by lining a pizza tray with greaseproof paper. In a large bowl, mix minced beef with a couple of eggs to help it stick together and any seasoning that you would like in the mince. I have seen cheese added at this point also. Then press the meat and eggs into the tray, flattening it down as much as possible and ensuring that there are no gaps. |
Add a tomato sauce (use your favourite or make fresh from chopped tomatoes, onions, garlic and herbs) across the meat. Then top with whichever toppings you like. We used sliced mushrooms, grated cheese and blue cheese on this one, but use whichever pizza toppings you would normally use. We left an edge (as if you would with a crust of a normal pizza) but you don't really need to. |
