I can't remember where I saw this recipe originally, but as soon as I did, I knew that I have to try it.
You do want to have it at the point where it is nearly cooked through as once you add the egg, you won't be cooking it for much longer. | Take some fresh, raw burgers and create a hole in the middle. Don't remove anything, just reshape it to create a yolk sized hole in the middle. Then start cooking it on a griddle pan or under the grill. Make sure that you brown both sides well (to your burger specification) at this point. |
Then place an egg inside each of the burgers. You will notice that most of the white will run out, but that's ok- just collect this and add it to your finished burger if you want- or discard it. Continue to cook until the egg is done- cooked but still runny, place a slice of cheese on top to melt and then serve in a bun or with salad and chips on a plate. |
