I have to apologise about the lack of preparation photos for this dish, and the fact that the only photo I actually have taken, is awfully blurry. But I wanted to share this dish so much that I didn't want to wait until I had made it again.
I'm sure that if you don't have a slow cooker, there will be ways of doing this dish in a casserole dish in the oven, but when you can pick them up so cheap, why don't you have one?
The instructions are simple:
Take about a chicken breast per person (I even used frozen chicken), a can of coke, a squeeze of ketchup, a squeeze of BBQ sauce, a tea/tablespoon of Marmite (depending on your preference- can't taste it but makes it less sickly), frozen carrots and put into a slow cooker on medium for about 6 hours. Add water if you think is necessary throughout.
Then, when done, remove the chicken breasts, tear open and place back in the sauce.

We served it in a bun with wedges and salad, similar to how you would a pulled pork. But then I took some into work as it was the next day and it was just as nice. I had so many questions about it at work and compliments on the smell. For something that takes no effort (5 mins max prep time), this is sure to be a winner! |
