It seems bizarre that the last post was about a birthday present and this post will be about a Christmas present but maybe that's why it reminded me to post this? Who knows.
For Christmas last, my sister bought hubby and me a 3 month gift subscription to The Spicery which we redeemed with the 'World Kitchen' and 'Discoverer' options. We like to try new foods and what better opportunity. With this subscription service, you get the spices and recipe for a main meal, side and pudding. I have seen that the different subscription options give different things- the 'Date Night' gives a three course meal for two for example. And all come through your door (posted through the letterbox) as a wonderful surprise!
Hubby and I have cooked with two of these so far and have been completely overwhelmed with the flavours and overall quality of what you receive. For example, on the recipe cards, it gives you the contents (or similar if rarer ingredients) of the spice packets for if you want to make the dish again. I can almost guarantee that it won't be as good but it is still nice to have there. Also, the dishes and puddings are in different packets, so you don't have to make it all in one go. The recipe instructions are on plastic so don't get messy in the kitchen and can be stored in the folder that came with the gift certificate. Silly things like this make me smile.
Our subscription has ended unfortunately, and we are planning on resubscribing when we have time to cook for ourselves more. I have included pictures below of one of the dishes that I made with this kit. I especially liked the chilli peanut brittle, which I wouldn't have tried for myself in a million years but was so glad that I did! We have done another dish, but I can't find the picture at the moment. I will edit this and add it in as soon as I can!

Please note that I am not affiliated with The Spicery in any way and have not been asked to write this post. Nor have I been offered anything in return for writing it (wouldn't say no though ;)). It is just that good a service.
