A really simple one this, but really worth doing in advance so then you are never without!
Take a stick of butter and let it soften slightly. Then add in some herbs or spices or flavours that you usually like with butter. I used chilli for the top ones, basil for the middles and garlic for the bottoms. Try to use fresh herbs as dried don't taste quite right.
Then, using an old chocolate box (or other container), scoop them into individual portions for the freezer. You could easily use an ice cube tray and then put them into a plastic container once frozen.
These are great because they are always there and ready for use. I use them on steaks, to flavour mashed potato, with salads- any time. All you have to do is get them out of the freezer and let them warm to room temperature to soften a little. Simple and easy!
