It makes sense that my first ever blog post should contain the reason for starting this blog site.
I'd read about the one week egg diet online and thought it was intriguing so wanted to give it a try. It contains very few calories (according to my research, it counts as a very low calorie diet) but is more than that and works on the chemical reactions in your body. You are said to lose up to 14 pounds in a week. Which frankly sounds great!
Managing to convince my family was interesting but I succeeded, promising them the most interesting food I could, with the limited ingredients we were allowed. And the promise of loosing a stone helped too.
I have enjoyed cooking but being limited on ingredients is really very hard. Too hard for me and I soon realised that I like mushrooms and cheese in nearly everything and that I really dislike grapefruit! See the slideshow below for the dishes that I managed to create with the limited ingredients. Day Six's dinner was a cheat as we were all suffering far too much and needed some quality food to sustain us into day seven.
Although I am really pleased with the results of the diet (10 pounds in a week including an evening of cheating), the limitations were soul destroying. I missed every single vegetable and carb and everything else that I wasn't allowed. So naturally, I obsessed over food and all the lovely cooking I could be doing. Thus, Gettin Us Fed was born.
